What is a Blepharoplasty ?
A cosmetic surgical procedure that focuses on the eyelids, specifically the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.
The goal of blepharoplasty is to improve the appearance of the eyelids by removing excess skin, muscle, or fat that may be causing drooping, puffiness, or wrinkles around the eyes.
The main types of blepharoplasty
There are two main types of blepharoplasty:
1. Upper blepharoplasty: This procedure targets the upper eyelids to address drooping or sagging skin that can sometimes impair vision or create a tired appearance.
2. Lower blepharoplasty: This procedure targets the lower eyelids to reduce under-eye bags, puffiness, and wrinkles.
The upper Blepharoplasty is often performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia with or without sedation. The surgeon makes incisions in the natural creases of the eyelids to minimize visible scarring. Excess skin, muscle, and fat are removed or repositioned to create a more rejuvenated and refreshed appearance. Went the upper and lower eyelid are performed its recommend to perform in a OR under close monitoring of the anesthesiologist.
